2017 Fall Movie Preview: Most Anticipated Films
/The days of pumpkin spice and cinema for grown-ups are upon us! The year in film so far has been incredibly disappointing, but we've found some cautious optimism when looking ahead to the remainder of 2017. Below you'll find the twenty movies we're most eager to see - for better (Call Me By Your Name) or worse (Happy Death Day). Titles link to the film's trailer where available. To see what we were looking forward to in past years (as a basis for our judgment), click here, here, or here. The three most recent Best Picture winners were all featured on those lists, so perhaps one of the twenty below will join that esteemed group (looking at you, Geostorm!).
Now on with the lists, and happy movie-going!

/The 69th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards will be doled out this evening, honoring the best television had to offer in the 2016-2017 season. With "Game of Thrones" sitting this year out (it's most recent season will be Emmy eligible at next year's awards), there's a lot of new blood in the Drama categories - and Best Drama Series is possibly the most competitive and unpredictable it has ever been! That said, the Emmys also like to turn on the autopilot, so there should be a handful of repeat winners to counteract all the newness.
I've watched more scripted TV in the past year than any other (36 complete seasons of eligible shows - yikes), but that won't help me one bit with my predictions! Below are my picks for who and what might take home a golden trophy tonight in the rumored order the 27 categories are to be presented in. Stephen Colbert hosts this year's soiree, which will air live on CBS beginning at 8pm ET, and don't forget to mix a few cocktails and follow along with our commentary on Twitter all evening @CineMunch.

/Nominations for the 69th Annual Emmy Awards, honoring the best of the best in television from the past year, will be announced tomorrow, July 13th. With HBO's juggernaut Game of Thrones ineligible (it didn't air new episodes within the June-May window) and a number of much-buzzed first year series looking likely to break through, there may be a healthy amount of surprises among the nominees. Though this is the Emmys, so maybe not. I'll be cheering loudly for The Leftovers and Westworld on the Drama side, all things Big Little Lies in the Limited Series categories, and Carrie Coon times two. Below are my last-minute predictions in 16 of the top categories.

Final 2016 Oscar Predictions
/The day has arrived! We've reached the finish line of this long movie awards season, and it's time to hand out the final trophies of the year! We here at CineMunch have ranked our favorite films of 2016 and bestowed our own awards (the 3rd Annual CineMunchies, don'tchaknow), so now we look to the 89th Annual Academy Awards to put a feather in 2016's cap tonight on ABC. Find out who we'd vote for if we had a ballot here.
This year the suspense won't be what's inside the final envelope (congrats, La La Land), but in just how many statues Damien Chazelle's original musical will take home. It's poised to nab at least eight, but could win as many as twelve, which would break the record of eleven wins set by Ben-Hur in 1959 (and then matched by Titanic in 1997 and The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King in 2003).
So settle in, mix yourself a cocktail (we'll be starting with Viola's Triumph martinis from our Oscar Menu), and follow along with our predictions below! For more (snarky) commentary and up-to-the-minute analysis, be sure to follow us on Twitter @CineMunch.
